Women Leadership Program

In 2011, Hawkamah, in cooperation with the Dubai Women Establishment, launched the “Women on Boards Initiative” under the Royal Patronage of Her Highness Shaikha Manal Bint Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum – President of Dubai Women Establishment, Wife of His Highness Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, UAE.

The Initiative aimed to promote gender diversity in the regional board rooms. It specifically targeted women entrepreneurs, business and political leaders, and academics, in order to certify them and to facilitate their path to join all types of Boards. This would help broaden the cadre of expert independent directors serving regional institutes and organisations and boost diversity on boards.

The New Program- Women Leadership Program (WLP)

Now in its 10th anniversary, Hawkamah is launching a new program to offer women the necessary tools and skills to fulfil their current board position effectively and equip aspiring female board members with the essential skills needed for future nominations.

The main goal is to ensure that when a woman joins a board, she can be effective and deliver value right from the start, and thereby improving the efficiency of the board.

The program includes a set of learning and support activities designed to provide a good platform for the participants to learn, interact and get the support they may need to facilitate their potential joining of boards, and furthermore, to support them after joining through coaching sessions.
